While not known as Royal Doulton until 1902, the Doulton factory was founded in 1815. Following their purchase of Pinder, Bourne & Co, of Burslem, Staffordshire in 1882 they enjoyed many successes and by the early 1900's they were dealing with all manner of pottery and porcelain, including domestic and industrial stoneware, architectural and garden ware, advertising ware, art pottery, earthenware, tableware and ornaments, which were becoming increasing popular at the turn of the century.

In 1968 they merged with the Allied English Potteries to form the Royal Doulton Tableware Group, incorporating Minton, Royal Crown Derby, Royal Albert, Ridgways and Paragon. To this day they continue to make vast ranges of tableware including specific lines for hotels, airlines and the catering trade. They also accept commissions for individual sets.
In addition , they also continue to produce a vast range of ornaments and figurines which have captured the imagination of collectors all over the world. Ranges such as their flambe ware, lady figures, toby jugs and Bunnykins are just a few examples of Royal Doulton collectibles.
