It was in 1982 that the first miniature cottages started to appear from the workshops of David Tate in Skirsgill, which is in the Lake District. They are still produced there today.

So famous are their cottages, it is a common misunderstanding that cottages and castles are all they make. However, they have and continue to produce a beautiful range of castles in a similar style to the cottages, as well as plates, tea caddies and ranges of animals and character figures.
