Discontinued Collectibles Guide

Sports Collectibles & Sporting Memorabilia

Dig out your collection of sporting nostalgia. Have you got a football signed by your favourite player, or a tennis ball signed by a Wimbledon favourite? If so you probably just kept them for nostalgic reasons, but they could become the basis of a fascinating collection of sporting memorabilia.

The idea of seriously collecting items relating to sport has become very popular in recent years and auction prices of some items have risen dramatically. There are so many areas of sport to base the collection on: football, golf, motor racing, rugby, boxing, horse racing. Then the collection can be further narrowed down to specific individuals or teams. The possible list of themes for collectors is endless.

As always, best advice is to collect the best quality of items that you can afford. In the early days you will probably be happy to get that 1956 cup final program that looks a bit dog eared, but as time goes on, try to find a replacement for it in pristine condition.

On each of the pages within this section dedicated to Sporting Memorabilia collectibles we have included links to live and current online auctions dealing in each theme. In addition, where known, we have added details of collector clubs, forums and websites. We wish you every success in tracking down the missing pieces of your discontinued Sporting Memorabilia collection and hope you will become a regular visitor to Accumulations. Remember it’s an ever-changing scene so it is always worth a return visit!
